Item

An Item represents a single food or beverage offering on your qoda.ly Menu. It’s the core building block where you define the essentials that customers need to know and order.

Key elements of an Item

  • Name: the title of your dish or beverage (e.g., “Classic Cheeseburger”).
  • Description: a short, enticing description, potentially highlighting ingredients or preparation (e.g., “Hand-formed beef patty with lettuce, tomato, onion, and house sauce”).
  • Pricing: the cost of the Item to the customer, which can be customized in several ways:
    • Base price: The standard cost of the Item.
    • Size-based pricing: different prices based on size options (e.g., Small, Medium, Large).
    • Time-based pricing: price variations based on time of day or day of the week (e.g., Happy Hour specials).
  • Image: a visually appealing photo of the Item.
  • Modifier groups (if applicable): sets of related customizations that can be applied to the Item (e.g., “Sides”, “Add-ons”).
  • Allergens, dietary tags and nutritional information: to help customers make informed choices.
  • Course: specifies which course the item is typically served in (e.g., “Appetizer”, “Entree”, “Dessert”).
  • Prep station: specifies which station in your kitchen is responsible for preparing the item. This is where a printer or display will show the item.
  • Reporting Sales Category: how the Item is grouped and analyzed in sales and inventory reports.
