Modifier group

A Modifier group is a collection of related customization choices that can be applied to Items on your qoda.ly menu. They provide flexibility for customers to personalize their orders.

Key uses of Modifier groups

  • Tailored ordering: allow customers to specify preferences like doneness, toppings, or side dishes.
  • Upselling opportunities: suggest additional paid customizations (e.g., premium toppings, extra sides).
  • Operational clarity: Modifier groups help kitchen staff accurately interpret order details.

Examples of Modifier groups

  • Doneness: Rare, Medium-rare, Medium, Well-done
  • Add-ons: Bacon, Avocado, Extra Cheese
  • Side options: Fries, Salad, Soup
  • Sauce choices: Marinara, Alfredo, Pesto
  • Dietary restrictions: No gluten, No dairy, Vegan

How Modifier groups work

  • Attached to Items: Modifier groups are linked to specific Menu items.
  • Customer selection: customers see available Modifier Groups when ordering an Item.
  • Selection limits: you can configure rules like:
    • Minimum and maximum selections: limit the number of choices (e.g., 2 to 6 toppings).
    • Single vs multi-select: allow one choice (e.g., doneness) or multiple (e.g., add-ons).

Best practices

  • Clear naming: use descriptive names for Modifier groups (e.g., “Choose Your Side”).
  • Intuitive options: keep the choices within each group simple and easy to understand.
  • Consider pricing: price additional options fairly to encourage upsells.
